If you notice yellow, tan, or brown discoloration on the foam inside your Big Joe product, don't worry. Some color variation can occur naturally in polyurethane foam and does not necessarily mean that the foam is dirty or stained.
Why does foam change color?
Polyurethane foam can naturally change color as it is exposed to air and its surrounding environment. This process is commonly known as oxidation.
Light, heat, and normal exposure to air can contribute to the change, and the discoloration may not always appear evenly across the foam. Because of this, you may notice some areas or pieces of foam that are lighter or darker than others.
Does discoloration affect the foam?
Color variation alone does not necessarily indicate a problem with the foam. If the foam has expanded properly and is otherwise functioning as intended, a difference in color can simply be cosmetic.
If you notice other concerns in addition to discoloration, such as an unusual odor, moisture, residue, deterioration, or foam that does not appear to be fully expanding, please contact our Customer Support team so we can take a closer look.
