If your Big Joe has developed a seam tear, don’t worry — you can usually repair it at home with a few simple supplies.
What you’ll need:
Strong polyester or upholstery thread
A curved or heavy-duty needle
Scissors
Optional: a fabric patch and fabric glue for extra support
Steps to Repair:
Move the beans/shredded foam away from the torn area so you have space to work. If the tear is big, scoop some fill into a bag to make it easier.
Bring the edges of the tear together so the seam lines up.
Sew the seam closed using small, tight stitches. A whip stitch or ladder stitch works best. Be sure to knot the thread securely at both ends.
Add reinforcement (optional): If the area looks weak, you can glue or sew a patch of sturdy fabric on the inside for extra strength.
Refill and test. Move the beans back into place and gently test the repair.
👉 If the tear is too large or the fabric around it is worn down, an upholstery shop may be able to make a stronger repair for you.
